
This eating disorder usually affects younger women because they are the most fragile and sensitive to their social environment. They do not absolutely control their surroundings and therefore seek a way to better manage their world. Their body becomes the only element on which they have full power.
The patient will then begin to select and carefully restrict their diet in order to lose much weight. Even if it is at a normal weight, it will still and always trying to lose weight. She has a distorted view of herself and always sees bigger than it actually is.
The BMI for a healthy body is located above 18, the anorexic is usually much lower.
